Where to stay in Dubai is one of the questions you ask us the most as well as queries about which neighborhoods are the most recommended.
As you might think, answering such a question is not easy as there are many options and hotels, but we can and we want to leave you with this post where we also highlight the best areas to stay in Dubai.
Based on our trip to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Rub’ al Khali we leave you a selection of places to stay in Dubai and the best neighborhoods. Let’s get started!
Neighborhoods where to stay in Dubai
Although there are many options for accommodation in Dubai, if it is your first time in the city and you want to know the must-see places in Dubai in a comfortable way, it is best to opt for the best known and best connected areas, although you can not forget that in Dubai distances are huge and often in addition to the subway you must use the cab if you do not want to walk too much and avoid the high temperatures.
1. Downtown Dubai
In our experience this is the best area to stay in Dubai, due to the proximity to many of the most famous places in the city, such as the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Mall, the largest shopping mall in the world with more than 1200 stores.
In addition to having these tourist attractions nearby, the proximity to the Dubai Mall will offer you a good gastronomic offer, being able to see the Dubai Fountains show several times and having the Dubai Mall/Burj Khalifa metro stop nearby to move around some of the main tourist attractions of the city.
The price of accommodation in Downtown usually exceeds 150 euros per night.
2. Deira
This neighborhood, known as the old part of Dubai, is also a perfect option where to stay in Dubai, especially if you are looking for something more traditional.
Deira is the place where the famous Gold Souk or Spice Souk is located as well as places of interest such as Heritage House, Al-Ahmadiya School and of course the Dubai Creek, a natural estuary that runs 10 kilometers into the city and is one of the most pleasant walks you can do during sunset.
The price of accommodation in Deira is usually less than 100 euros per night.
3. Burj Dubai – Al Bastakiya
These two areas, known along with Deira for being the oldest and where the city began, are also two perfect areas to stay in Dubai, due to their traditional character and for being another of the most beautiful areas of the city.
Note that in this case there is no metro stop nearby, so you must move by cab, although these are very cheap and you can travel 20 kilometers for less than 10 euros at the exchange rate.
The price of accommodation in Al Bastakiya is usually less than 100 euros per night.
4. Dubai Marina
Known for being the meeting area for foreigners living in Dubai, this is also a very popular area to stay in Dubai although it is somewhat more expensive than the other places mentioned above.
In this case in addition to a variety of restaurants, you will find the Marina Mall, another of the most popular shopping malls in the city and if you want to be in an area with atmosphere, without a doubt, this is one of the best options.
The price of accommodation in Dubai Marina is usually more than 150 euros per night.
Jumeirah Beach Residence
If your trip to the United Arab Emirates includes a day at the beach in the city, undoubtedly the best option to stay in Dubai is Jumeirah.

Although for us this is not a city to visit for its beaches, if you want to enjoy them, in Jumeirah you will find some resorts with private beaches where you can enjoy the warm waters.
The price of accommodation in Jumeirah Beach Residence is usually 150 euros per night.
Our recommended places to stay in Dubai
We leave you with what was our hotel in Dubai, right in the center and very close to the Dubai Mall and the Burj Khalifa. A choice that we believe is very successful, especially for its location, very central, which in a city like Dubai, where all tourist attractions are very far from each other, allows you to be at relatively close distances to all of them.
Tips for finding cheap accommodation in Dubai
Although nowadays and thanks to search engines such as Booking, it is quite easy to look for where to stay in Dubai and find good hotels, we want to leave you a series of recommendations and tips to make this search much easier and comfortable.
- According to our experience, as we have mentioned, the best area to stay in Dubai is Downtown, near the Dubai Mall and the Burj Khalifa. Although it is not the cheapest area to stay in Dubai, you will save on transportation, because even if you use cabs, most tourist attractions are closer.
- If you are traveling during high season or important dates such as the end of the year, it is highly recommended to book several months in advance if you want to get good prices.
- Remember that to avoid paying commissions and to always have the current exchange rate we recommend you to use the Revolut card and the N26 card, which are the ones we use, are free of charge and will save you a lot of money.
