Where to stay in London: best neighborhoods

Although there are plenty of options to find accommodation in London, we believe that if it is your first time in the city, it is best to opt for the best known areas, to be well connected and to enjoy the most of the places to visit in London, in a comfortable way.

Despite this you also have to take into account the prices, something that in London is important because the prices are usually quite high, especially in the most tourist areas and demanded by travelers, where a double hotel room exceeds 200 euros per night easily. Considering all this, we leave you the best options for us considering the quality/price ratio.

1. Oxford Street and surroundings. Soho

This is probably the most demanded option where to sleep in London by most travelers as it is a location that allows you to be close to everything and also be very well connected to the rest of the city by public transport.

Although this area is very large, we would opt for Soho, where the atmosphere is assured and comfort guaranteed. Of course, the area does not have too many hotels, so those that exist tend to have quite high prices.

The price of accommodation in Soho is usually between 200 and 250 euros per night.

2. Around Victoria Station, one of the best places to sleep in London.

This is another of the most popular areas to stay in London due to its proximity to Victoria Station, something that allows you to move around the city and surroundings in a very fast way and even make transfers to the airport in a very comfortable way, since all transport passes through the station.

Although depending on the area you will be a little far from the most touristic points of the city, the place is highly recommended if you like to walk or do not mind taking the subway to move around other areas of the city.

We have used this location on several occasions and the truth is that it has always been perfect.

The price of accommodation around Victoria Station is usually 100-120 euros per night.

3. Covent Garden, a charming option to stay in London.

This is undoubtedly one of the most visited places in London, especially for its famous market, which is included among the best markets in London, besides being an area that is close to most tourist attractions and also for being a place with a wide range of restaurants.

All this, coupled with the fact that it is one of the trendiest neighborhoods of the capital, makes most hotels in the area have high prices, so although it is a perfect area where to stay in London, we understand that it is not for all budgets.

The price of accommodation in Covent Garden is usually between 200-250 euros per night.

4. Chelsea

Chelsea is the typical residential neighborhood of London and although it is one of the most demanded areas, for us in this case it would not be the best option, especially considering that it is more or less 30 minutes by public transport from the most central area of the city.

In spite of this, if the prices fit you and you don’t mind using the transport every day, Chelsea can also be an option where to sleep in London.

The price of accommodation in Chelsea is usually 100 euros per night.

5. Paddington and Bayswater, two of our favorite places to sleep in London

These two areas, a little further away from the city center, despite not being as demanded as others by travelers, due to its proximity to Hyde Park as well as its good communication by subway, are for us two perfect places to stay in London.

In addition, depending on the location you will be very close to the famous Notting Hill neighborhood, one of the most famous in the city, where you can enjoy amazing walks, one of the things in London for free.

The price of accommodation in Paddington and Bayswater is usually 80-100 euros per night.

6. Notting Hill, another of the best areas to stay in London

For us this is, without a doubt, one of the best places to stay in London, although we understand that for some travelers, this neighborhood, despite how famous it is, is far from the main attractions of the city.

Despite that and due to the good communication by bus and subway with the rest of the city, we believe that if you are looking for a picturesque place, with good atmosphere and relaxed, Notting Hill is the perfect choice.

The price of accommodation in Notting Hill is usually 120-150 euros per night.

7. City of London

This is one of the most demanded areas in the city, especially for business purposes.

It is for this reason that for us it would not be the best option to stay in London, as it is quite far from the main attractions and we understand that although prices are usually tighter in some specific cases, in the end it does not end up compensating if you compare the price with the loss of time in displacements.

The price of accommodation in the City is usually 150 euros per night.

8. Bloomsbury

Very close to the main attractions of the city, such as the British Museum, one of the best museums in London, and next to the considered center of London, Bloomsbury is another of the most recommended areas where to stay in London to have everything close and not depend on public transport.

The price of accommodation in Bloomsbury is usually 80-100 euros per night.
