  • Mellah: known as the Jewish quarter of Marrakech and located inside the walls, this is one of the best options to stay in Marrakech.
  • Kasbah: south of the Medina, but also inside the walls, this area is much quieter than the previous ones, but retains all the authenticity of the ancient city.
  • Gueliz: this is the new area of the city, where you can find the Place du 16 novembre, the center of the neighborhood.
  • Palm grove: north of the city we find this area of 12,000 hectares, located in an oasis, where many of the luxury hotels in Marrakech are located.
  • Hivernage: in the west, this is another of the luxury areas of the city, although it is also currently one of the fashion and leisure areas, so if it fits your budget, it can be a good option to find a hotel in Marrakech.

1. The Medina, the best place to stay in Marrakech

Although it is bustling and even at times desperate, if you want to be next to the places to visit in Marrakech essential and know closely and at any time the famous Jemaa el-Fna square, the Medina is undoubtedly the best place to stay in Marrakech.

2. Mellah, another option to find a hotel in Marrakech

Located in the inner area of the walls of Marrakech, Mellah was built in 1558 by Sâadien Moulay Abdallah and is the old Jewish quarter of the city, where the old cemetery, the Alzama and Negidim synagogues and the souk of spices are located.

Having in some ways its own wall, the neighborhood has been maintained as before and here you can find the tranquility that in many moments of the day is missing in the Medina, which will invite you to stroll through souks and stores without having to suffer the harassment of vendors.

It also has a wide range of riads, although somewhat more expensive than in the neighboring Medina and many restaurant offers, both traditional and Western cuisine making it another of the best places to sleep in Marrakech.

3. Kasbah, another of the best places to sleep in Marrakech

In the south of the Medina, in the area of the Bab Agnaou gate, this neighborhood is also inside the city walls and like the previous one, is much quieter than the Medina despite having some of the attractions of the city as the Saadian Tombs or the Badi Palace.

Here you can also enjoy the typical streets of the old part of Marrakech and many shops and souks to stroll through in a more quiet and peaceful way. 4. Gueliz, the modern area of Marrakech

Gueliz is the modern part of Marrakech and although for us it is not the best option to stay in Marrakech, as it is away from the main tourist attractions, about 15 minutes by cab, this location can be perfect if you want to stay in more western hotels or are doing a route by train or bus in Morocco, as this is where the train and bus station is located.

This neighborhood is also characterized by being one of the most commercial and have large avenues where most of the stores of recognized brands are located.

The price of accommodation in Gueliz is usually 60 euros per night although here are usually found some with higher prices.

5. The Palm grove, one of the luxury areas of Marrakech

Located on the outskirts of the city, about 7 kilometers from the center, the Parmeral is an area of more than 12,000 hectares that is known for having more than 200,000 specimens of palm trees, in an ancient oasis.

Although for us it is not the most recommended option to stay in Marrakech, especially if it is the first time you travel to the city and want to know it thoroughly; if you are looking for a luxury hotel, this could be the best option next to Hivernage, quite more expensive, which we will talk about later.

Here tranquility is assured as you will be away from any souk or vendor although you will also be away from the essence of Marrakech.

The price of accommodation in the Palm Grove is usually 100 euros per night although there are riads that have rooms for less than 50 euros per night.

6. Hivernage, the most luxurious option to stay in Marrakech

In the western part of the city we find this neighborhood that in recent times has become a benchmark of luxury and leisure in Marrakech. Away from the Medina and the more traditional areas of the city, about 7 kilometers or so, here are located most of the luxury hotels in Marrakech, some of the best known entertainment venues and many of the most recognized Western restaurants nationally and globally.

The price of accommodation in Hivernage is usually 200 euros per night.

Tips to find cheap accommodation in Marrakech
