That said, and although here we will show you what our recommendations are, if yours do not coincide with these, we advise you to check the area to make sure it is safe and so you do not have any problems.
Neighborhoods where to stay in Naples
Taking into account that most travelers come to the city to spend a few days, in addition to a visit to Pompeii, which is one of the best tours and excursions from Naples, we recommend staying in the area of the historic center or near the Central Station of Naples, if you are going on an excursion or train ride.
1. Historic Center, the best place to stay in Naples
The historic center is undoubtedly the best place to stay in Naples as it is the heart of the city and the location where you will be next to the must-see places to visit in Naples such as Piazza del Plebiscito, the most important square in the city, the San Carlo Theater, Via Toledo or the Castel dell’Ovo, among many others.
Among the most recommended areas to look for accommodation in Naples in this area are Piazza del Plebiscito, Piazza Dante and Via Toledo and surroundings.
Keep in mind that the historic center is a safe area although it is important to act with common sense, as you would do in any other city and avoid going at night with valuables or wandering around areas you do not know.
The price of accommodation in the historic center of Naples is usually 80-100 euros per night.
2. The Promenade, another of the best places to sleep in Naples
If you are looking for a safe place, with good views and a good location, the Promenade is undoubtedly the best place to stay in Naples. In addition, the area is quite quiet despite being less than 10 minutes walk from the historic center and has a wide range of restaurants and hotels.
Of course, the views have to be paid for and the hotels in this area do not usually go below 100 euros a night. But hey, the view of Vesuvius, you have to pay for it, don’t you think?
The price of accommodation on the Promenade is usually more than 100 euros a night.
3. Porto, a lively area in Naples
If you are looking for lively nights out, the Porto area is the best place to stay in Naples as this is where many of the city’s liveliest live music venues, nightclubs, bars and restaurants are concentrated.
In addition to this, the area is safe, well connected to the rest of the city and is next to the port from where boats leave for the island of Capri and the Amalfi Coast.
The price of accommodation in Porto is usually between 50 and 70 euros per night.
4. Chiaia, one of the most peaceful areas of Naples
Located between the historic center and the Promenade and with a humble past, Chiaia is currently one of the quietest neighborhoods to sleep in Naples and one of the most fashionable options. If you choose this location you will be close to the main tourist attractions of the city but out of the most chaotic area and you will have a wide range of hotels and restaurants.
In addition to all this, the price is much more affordable for accommodation in Naples than in the previous options, so if your budget is tight, this can be a perfect option to stay in Naples.
The price of accommodation in Chiaia is usually between 50 and 70 euros per night.
5. Central Station
Although for many this option is not the most recommended place to stay in Naples, we have to say that we stayed here and it was a perfect experience. The possibility of being close to the station and being able to move and make excursions to Pompeii or Herculaneum for example, and also being within walking distance of the historic center, made it one of our favorite areas to stay in the city.
While it is true that it is considered an unsafe area, we did not feel that way at any time, even in the early morning when we arrived and had to park the car in an area 10 minutes walk from the hotel.
Anyway, if you choose this area to stay, it is important to move with common sense especially at night.
The price of accommodation in the Central Station is usually between 50 euros per night.
