With this in mind and to make your search as easy as possible, we wanted to publish this post in which we tell you what are the best areas of Prague to stay in addition to leaving you a selection of some of the best hotels to stay in Prague.

Based on the days we spent in the city, during the trip to the Czech Republic, and of which we have written several guides, including Prague in 4 days, we leave you a selection of places to stay in Prague and the best neighborhoods. Let’s start!

Neighborhoods where to stay in Prague

If there is something that the city can boast is the amount of hotels that can be found and the many options of accommodation areas in Prague for which you can choose. With this in mind we recommend, especially if your trip is not for many days, look for a central location that allows you to have close to most of the places to see in Prague, to make the most of your time.

1. Staré Mesto or Old Town, the best place to stay in Prague

Undoubtedly Staré Mesto, where the historic center of the city is located, is the best choice of accommodation in Prague, due to its good location and proximity to most tourist attractions in the city.

If we add to that the amount of gastronomic offer there is, the charm of the place and that you will be next to the Old Square and the Astronomical Clock, staying here is a sure hit.

The price of accommodation in Staré Mesto is usually 50-60 euros per night.

2. Nové Mesto or New Town, another alternative where to sleep in Prague

Although in our experience it is less practical than Staré Mesto, we have to say that this is another of the best options where to stay in Prague, both for its location and its proximity to Wenceslas Square and the Dancing House, two of the places you can not miss in Prague.

It is also one of the cheapest places to stay in Prague and includes a shopping area where there are also many dining options and charming restaurants, where you can enjoy Czech cuisine in a much more local environment than in the historic center.

The price of accommodation in Nové Mesto is usually 60 euros per night.

3. Josefov or Jewish Quarter

Although it is not as famous as Staré Mesto, Josefov is another great alternative where to stay in Prague due to its proximity to the historic center, it is in the northern part, as it is the place where the old Jewish ghetto is located.

Here is where you can visit the six synagogues and the old Jewish cemetery. In addition, in the area you can find many offers of quality restaurants.

The price of accommodation in Josefov is usually 60-80 euros per night.

4. Malá Strana or Lesser Town of Prague

Known for being one of the oldest and most historic districts of the city, Malá Strana is another alternative for accommodation in Prague. Although for us it is not the most suitable, being somewhat further away from some tourist attractions, its proximity to the Prague Castle, its bohemian atmosphere and above all, its tranquility, which you can breathe in its hundreds of cobbled streets, make it another of the best areas to stay in Prague.

It is also next to the Charles Bridge, so it can be a great alternative if you want to stay in a quiet area but well connected to the historic center.

The price of accommodation in Malá Strana is usually 65 euros per night.

Our recommended lodging where to stay in Prague

During our stay in Prague we stayed at the Archibald City Hotel, which is good value for money and strategically located very close to Wenceslas Square.

Although we really liked the location, if we were to return we would probably opt for Staré Mesto which we believe, is the best area to stay in Prague.

Tips for finding cheap accommodation in Prague

Although we know that finding a place to stay in Prague is quite easy nowadays, thanks to search engines like Booking, we leave you some tips to make this selection easier and faster.

  • As we always recommend, if your trip is for a few days, it is preferable to stay in a central area to save time. However, Prague is a fairly small city so in most options you will not need transportation to move between your accommodation and the tourist attractions of the city.
  • If you are traveling to Prague in high season or on a special date, it is important to book well in advance in order to find good prices and more alternatives.
  • Remember that to avoid paying commissions and to always have the current exchange rate we recommend you to use the Revolut card and the N26 card, which are the ones we use, are free of charge and will save you a lot of money.
