Based on the several times we have visited the city, during which we have written several posts and guides such as Valencia in a day, we leave you a selection of places to stay in Valencia and the best neighborhoods. Let’s start!

Neighborhoods where to stay in Valencia

The city of Valencia has 19 districts, which are divided into 88 neighborhoods and districts. Logically we will not talk about all of them and in this post we will only focus on the most suitable ones to stay in Valencia, understanding that your trip will be only a few days and it is best to be in a central area.

We will also take into account that all of them have a good gastronomic offer and are well connected, something that we also believe is very important to know the most essential places to see in Valencia.

1. Ciutat Vella, the historic center and the best place to stay in Valencia

The Ciutat Vella district, which is number 1, corresponds to the historic center of the city and is composed of the neighborhoods La Seu, La Xerea, El Carmen, El Pilar, El Mercat and Sant Francesc.

Here you can find most of the tourist attractions of the city such as La Seu, the central market, the Lonja de la Seda, the Town Hall, the Rialto theater or the Serranos Towers and the church of El Carmen.

The whole area is very busy and has a lot of atmosphere, both day and night and has a wide range of hotels and restaurants, where you can try some of the most typical dishes of Valencian gastronomy in one of the 10 restaurants where to eat well in Valencia.

The price of accommodation in Ciutat Vella is usually 100 euros per night although there are options for less than 75 euros if you look early.

2. Extramurs, another of the best places to sleep in Valencia

The district of Extramurs, located to the west of Ciutat Vella, is number 3 in the city and is composed of four neighborhoods: Botànic, La Roqueta, La Petxina and Arrancapin.
Being located very close to the historic area and having among its most important attractions the city walls, the Botanical Garden and the North Station, it is another of the best areas to stay in Valencia.

Although the whole district is well connected, we recommend you to choose a hotel near Ciutat Vella, which is the most central area and has more entertainment and restaurants.
The price of accommodation in Ciutat Vella is usually 40 euros.

3. Ruzafa, the trendy area of Valencia

Ruzafa is together with El Pla del Remei and Gran Via, the three neighborhoods that make up the Eixample district of Valencia.

Although it does not have many tourist attractions, the area of Ruzafa has become fashionable and there are not few travelers who think of it as a place to sleep in Valencia.

Although for us it is not the most suitable, as it is a little far from the center, about 6 kilometers that you can walk in a nice walk or bus 7 that connects the neighborhood with the center.

In the same way we also have to tell you that if you are looking to enjoy alternative places, both restaurants and fashion, this is probably the best place to stay in Valencia.
In addition to the trendy locals, you can not miss the Central Market Ruzafa, which is the best known of the district.

The price of accommodation in Ciutat Vella is usually 40 euros.

4. City of Arts and Sciences

Located in the Quatre Carreres district, which consists of 7 neighborhoods: Monteolivete, En Corts, Malilla, Fuente San Luis, Na Rovella, La Punta and Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias; this area is another of the most recommended options where to stay in Valencia.

Here you can find some of the best hotels in the city and although it is not an area with a lot of restaurants is the City of Arts and Sciences, which is a set of modernist buildings next to the Turia River, designed by the architect Santiago Calatrava.

The price of accommodation in the City of Arts and Sciences is usually 80 euros.

Tips for finding cheap accommodation in Valencia

In addition to the list of what we believe are the best areas to stay in Valencia and examples of the hotels that we believe are most recommended, we want to give you some tips and recommendations to make your choice quick and easy and above all, adapted to your trip.

  • As you may have seen, most hotels have quite similar prices, taking into account the quality/price ratio, even if they are in different neighborhoods or districts. For this reason we recommend you to always opt for Ciutat Vella and even more if your trip is only for a few days.
  • In addition to the areas mentioned above, if you want to be close to the beach, it is highly recommended to opt for the Poblats Marítims district, formed by the neighborhoods of El Grao, Cabañal-Cañamelar, Malvarrosa, Beteró and Nazaret, which is another of the most recommended areas to stay in Valencia.
  • Remember that to avoid paying commissions and to always have the current exchange rate we recommend you to use the Revolut card and the N26 card, which are the ones we use, are free of charge and will save you a lot of money.
